The Man Behind the Numbers: Meet Andrew Our Associate Director of Finance

As Associate Director of Finance, my role within Arc is varied and dynamic, constantly evolving to match the needs of the business and our clients. With 26 years in the finance world under my belt, I've worked across multiple sectors, starting my career in accountancy practice, which equipped me with a solid foundation, knowledge and know-how needed to lead Arc's financial strategy today.
I joined the business in August of 2022, and lead a fantastic team including (left to right) Credit Control, Jay Gaugler, Head of Payroll & Compliance, Ginny Verdon, Finance Assistant, Louise Condron, and Financial Data Analyst, Graeme Hunter.

How My Team Brings Value to Our Clients
One area where my department directly supports clients is in setting fair and sustainable commercial charge rates. A recent example of this would be navigating the complexities of charges to Employers' National Insurance contributions, this required recalculating our charge rates to balance the rising HMRC costs while ensuring fairness for our clients.
One of our core values is "We Care" and we ensure that we approach every decision we make with care and consideration to all of our stakeholders.
My team recognises that clients have diverse needs when it comes to invoicing. Some prefer invoices organised by department, others by event. We take pride in offering flexible and tailored invoicing solutions that fit seamlessly into our clients' systems.

Graeme is currently undertaking his Level 4 Data Analyst programme. This course supports him in his role and builds on the fantastic work that he produces currently in terms of reporting by client, sector or hub. His incredible work on sourcing data helps to enhance operational efficiency for our clients.
The course will look at AI and different systems that can be implemented at Arc to allow some of our manual processes to be improved and enhanced, leading to both time and cost savings.
Financial Stability & Business Continuity
Maintaining Arc’s financial health is my top priority. Each month, I produce detailed management account packs that include comprehensive Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet summaries and present this at our Senior Leadership Team meeting. Our Senior Leadership Team consists of Michael Gavin, Paul Marcinkowski, Emma Jensen, Sarah Harrison, Courtney Wakes, and Angela Adams.
These reports are vital for decision-making, enabling the SLT to guide the business confidently and ensure we remain on a stable financial footing. While to some, finance might seem like a background function, it’s a core pillar of what keeps Arc agile, transparent, and client-focused.
From adapting to regulatory changes to providing financial clarity and flexibility, our goal is always to support both the business and the people we serve.
