Carbon Conscious, Planet Positive

Our vision is to shape the world of flexible work into a better place for all, and we hope to achieve this through our three Impact Pillars, including Carbon Conscious, Planet Positive.

Our Objective

Our objective is to reduce our environmental impact, aiming for Net Zero and inspire sustainable behaviours across the industry.

Climate change is one of the biggest threats to our world today. We are already seeing the impact of extreme weather, with heatwaves, storms, and flooding disrupting events, damaging infrastructure, and increasing safety risks. A less stable climate threatens the reliability of the entire events calendar.

Large-scale events bring people together, but they also create environmental pressures through travel, energy use, and waste.

As a national staffing partner, we have a responsibility to minimise our impact and influence positive change across the sector.

Research shows that for many sports events, indirect emissions from spectator, participant, and staff travel, accommodation, and supply chain often exceed the direct emissions from venues and energy use. We are part of this footprint, so we need measures that meaningfully reduce our contribution.

Net Zero & Understanding Emissions

We already track and monitor our business emissions and have achieved a 39% reduction since our baseline year. However, we must continue progressing toward Net Zero. As the business grows, we will introduce an intensity matrix measured against hours supplied, allowing us to understand emissions per hour and directly assess how operational decisions impact our environmental footprint. This will ensure reductions are sustained, and our operations remain environmentally responsible as we scale.

Travel is our largest source of emissions, so reducing unnecessary journeys is one of the most effective actions we can take. To manage this properly, we need accurate and reliable travel data from our Team Members.

With the continued development of our systems, this data will be captured directly within our platforms. Local recruitment plays a key role in this approach. By placing people closer to where they work, we reduce mileage, lower costs for Team Members, and strengthen community connections.

Make Your Pledge 4 the Planet

We believe that every person can play their part in taking climate action. Small, consistent actions, whether that's switching to a vegan meal twice a week, or, ensuring that you really do recycle correctly, can add up to a significant impact on our world.

By making your Pledge 4 the Planet, you can contribute towards a healthier planet. Climate change affects every single one of us, let's work together to create a sustainable future for generations to come.

Our Commitments

1. Accurately record team member travel and commute data for every shift.

Using our staffing platform, we need to record every Team Member’s journey to work. We will explore automatic solutions that make this process efficient and effective.

2. Reduce Scope 3 travel emissions by 25% per 1,000 hours supplied

We will focus on recruiting locally and encouraging lower-emission travel choices, reducing the distance and impact of team member journeys.

3. 100% of full-time employees engage in volunteering

We will create volunteering opportunities and support every employee to take part, with a strong emphasis on planet-focused initiatives.

4. Achieve 90% local workforce (within 30 miles) at every event by 2029

We will strengthen local recruitment and build regional staffing pools so that each event is supported by a workforce drawn from the surrounding area.

5. Collaborate with our top 10 clients by sharing team member travel emissions insights

We will use this data to align on sustainability priorities and identify shared reduction opportunities.

Our Journey to Net Zero

On our journey to reach Net-Zero emissions by 2025, we started to implement carbon reduction measures across our offices. These measures have various impacts, but all contribute to the same goal.

One of the most impactful measures was our switch from electricity generated from fossil fuels to a renewable electricity provider. Some other examples of what we have done so far on our Net-Zero journey include:

  • Using a pension provider that offers ethical investment

  • Undertaking a waste audit and measuring waste monthly (recycled and general) with a goal to divert at least 60% of waste from landfills each month

  • Recycling old electric devices and using refurbished laptops

  • Using energy-efficient equipment

One of the big challenges that we expect to tackle on our journey to Net-Zero is transportation. The hospitality industry relies on people to travel, which makes transport emissions unavoidable. However, they can be limited or reduced, depending on the mode of transport used. We have developed a progress plan of how we can achieve Net-Zero emissions across the transport category for delivery staff to events and venues across the UK.

  • Working with transport providers that use low emission vehicles, and offsetting the GHG emissions ourselves to reach carbon neutrality

  • Working with carbon-neutral transport providers

  • Working with providers that offer electric buses which use decarbonised energy

  • Owning our own transport (long term goal)

There are many steps ahead of us to achieving net-zero emissions, but we are keen to be part of this global journey to limiting the impacts of climate change.

Team Member Climate Action Pledges

"I pledge to take meaningful and consistent actions to address climate change by making choices that reduce my carbon footprint, advocate for sustainability, and inspire others to act."

Team Member Climate Action Pledges

"I pledge to make this world a better place to live for me, my people, and society."

Team Member Climate Action Pledges

"Help in raising awareness and sharing information on sustainable practices, climate science, and ways individuals and organizations can contribute to environmental protection."

Team Member Climate Action Pledges

"Encourage more people to engage in activities that produce less and lesser amounts of carbon dioxide gas into the environmental."

Leave No Trace

Across the UK, we’re on a bold mission to reduce waste and champion sustainability at all of the camping festivals.

Our Leave No Trace campaign forms part of our Impact Strategy and focuses on taking positive climate action within our camping festivals that we staff each year.

Arc Sustainability Champions:

These team members go through a selection process whereby we identify people who are passionate about sustainability. They are then given an induction about how we can best leave no trace. In return, we pay them a higher rate for encouraging green practices on-site.

Site Clear Down:

On the last day, our sustainability champions will work with the rest of the team to ensure the fields we camp in are completely clear when we leave and also any equipment left behind (e.g. tents) is recycled or donated to charity.

Waste Recycling Stations:

We are initially focusing on providing team members the ability to dispose of clothing, vapes, and food packaging in a responsible way which we will then recycle post-event. We will also support on-site with the collection of general waste and normal recycling procedures.

Re-using Equipment to Preserve Value:

We provide tents to any staff to borrow free of cost to anyone who already doesn’t have one to prevent single-use purchase. We then collect the tents, get them professionally cleaned, and re-issue for future events as a demonstration of the circular economy in practice.
