Beyond the Check-In: What ops Really Do at Arc...

What do you actually do?


 Are you going home now then? (the second an 8am check in is over)


So do you guys just do the sign in then? (Just)



These must be the most asked questions I get from team members, and who can blame them? They only see us in the flesh on site happy smiley running around like headless chickens trying to make sure they have a fantastic shift and experience, whilst delivering for our clients and upholding their, and our, standards. 



But what no one sees is what happens behind the scenes in the lead up to major events, and all events really. They may get to speak to us through multiple channels and have that personal touch we pride ourselves on (mixed in with incredible AI and tech) but what you see is the end result. 


What we see from start to end is:


▪️Recruitment - researching the areas, adapting our style for local and remote recruitment, social campaigns, our ATS Talent Funnel seamlessly bringing mass candidates through, compliance at 100% and then compliance check after compliance check 


▪️Allocating resources, building targets and setting budgets, planning with months, days or hours to go


▪️Selection and more importantly FAIR selection - creating endless availability trackers, utilising our incredible system Ubeya knowing skill sets of the team members, knowing their preferences, if they drive, who they’re travelling with, where they’d be best suited, where they’d thrive, how well that team member will deliver that role from small to HUGE volume


▪️Accreditation - I won’t say anymore. Good old accreditation! 


▪️Learning new systems and tech to comply with our client processes and ensure they have all the information they need. Or sending a good old fashioned list! 


▪️Communicating CONSTANTLY to retain and ensure a foolproof service to all stakeholders 


▪️Organising branding, check in process, resources on site, accom, transport..


Right through to delivering the event and then there’s the end process! Processing timesheets, ensuring hours and amount match the PO and then handing over to our wonderful finance team to wrap it all up.


I could go on and on and on… 


I watch my team and my colleagues at Arc Hospitality Recruitment be asked for the impossible, dust off their shoulder and go ‘on it’ every single day. And lord knows that they are ON IT ! 


My favourite part about working in events? Other than seeing that process from start to end be delivered beautifully? The absolute delirium of a major project and event (Delyth Jones knows!!) We particularly thrive off the chaos and mayhem and still somehow deliver seamlessly and most importantly to me; honestly. We are by no stretch of the imagination perfect, but we are the epitome of ‘above and beyond’.
