Hospitality Rocks: 4 Reasons You Should Join Arc

The hospitality industry is a spectacular show – some would say, the greatest on earth. It allows us to experience the very best of what life has to offer alongside the people who mean the most to us.

It’s the euphoric feeling of being at a festival, covered in mud, sweat, and tears, with thousands of people singing along to your favourite songs. It’s the intensity of watching your football team in an action-packed final come back from the brink with just minutes to spare. It’s the memories made on holiday with your friends and family and even the simple act of grabbing a coffee on your way to work.

Hospitality is built upon people’s need for fun and excitement; it’s fast-paced and fascinating, exciting and eclectic, encompassing everything from theme parks to nightclubs, restaurants to concerts, and museums to gift shops. Despite its fun exterior, hospitality is a very serious business, contributing £93 billion to our economy, and in 2023, the industry’s revenue was £46 billion in London alone, showing faster economic growth than any other sector.

For those who want a career path in a constantly evolving and flourishing industry, hospitality is a fantastic choice. It lends itself to those who are outgoing, resilient, and flexible; in fact, many of those who aren’t great fans of the 9-5 find hospitality quenches their career thirst. It’s varied and colourful; no two days are the same.

Within the wonderful world of Arc, you can find some of the industry’s most talented recruits, the magnetic movers and stalwart shakers of the temporary staffing universe. We think hospitality rocks; it’s our bread and butter, what we do 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. So, without further ado, here are four reasons why you should join Arc…

1. Flexibility

It took the majority of the world 2020 years to discover that the traditional 9-5 isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be. That’s right, it took a pandemic that halted our lives to introduce the world to the utter wonderfulness of flexible working. Suddenly, people realised that being at the same desk in the same building five days a week for the rest of their lives just wasn’t the vibe.

Not here at Arc, of course, we saw change coming all the way back in 2008 when we started offering flexible work in amazing places in our hometown of Liverpool (fun fact: Liverpool Football Club was our very first client!) and since then, we’ve grown to six hubs across the UK in Liverpool, London, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, and Glasgow, offering temporary jobs right across the whole country.

The truth is not everyone can hold down a traditional 9-5 job, and many others simply don’t want to. Perhaps you’re a student with a university timetable that leaves little time to fit long shifts in, or you’re a parent that has to be well out of the workplace by 3pm to pick your children up from school. Maybe you simply don’t need a full-time wage to live. We’re all built differently, and it’s only natural that work opportunities reflect this.

When you sign up to work at Arc, you don’t have to commit to working a certain number of hours, so it’s completely up to you when you work. You could pick up a few shifts one week, none the next, and work nearly full-time hours the following week.

So, in the words of Olivia Newton-John (kind of), let’s get flexible, flexible, I want to get flexibleeeee and take a look at our active vacancies here: Arc | Careers Site

2. You’ll Meet New Friends

Let’s be honest: meeting friends isn’t an easy task when you’re an adult. Where do you even go to meet them?! Well, within the wonderful world of Arc, one of the things that we are most proud of is the fact that so many of our team members (which is what we call our workforce of temporary staff) make genuine friendships through working at Arc.

We can confidently say that we have some of the world’s most beautiful souls on our team, people who genuinely care about others and who go out of their way to welcome new members into the group.

Here’s what some of our team members say:

“I’ve recently worked the Royal Ascot with Arc Liverpool and can honestly say I have no complaints. I had a wonderful week, the accommodation we stayed in was so lovely, the staff I went with were all so friendly and respectful and were always looking out for each-other.”

– Eve, Team Member

“Been working for Arc hospitality over the years now, I have made a lot of friends working in most events.”

– Alfred, Team Member

“Very great agency! Been with them for months now! They have made me feel really comfortable and great! Making great friends! It’s honestly a great opportunity to do. I would highly recommend!!”

– Cherene, Team Member

“I really enjoy working for Arc as it’s so flexible which is ideal for me as I’m a university student and I don’t have time to commit for a fixed part time job and with Arc I get to choose when and where I want to work. I also made so many great friendships through working.”

C, Team Member

“Arc has provided fantastic opportunities for myself to meet new people, work in new environments and show off my skills in hospitality.”

– Matthew, Team Member

During festival season, there are many events that require our team members to camp, just like the many guests in attendance. For some of our team members, this has become an annual custom, getting together with their favourite colleagues, pitching up tents, and spending the time after shifts either at the festival or sat around chatting and enjoying the evenings under the summer sunset.

3. The Venues, the Events and the Guests

We’re not ones to brag HOWEVER it’s hard not to when we work with some of the UK’s most legendary venues and world-class events, alongside much-loved local businesses, including bars, hotels, and restaurants. Arc provides people with the opportunity to say that they were not only there but they helped bring it to life, from the FIFA World Cup to Taylor Swift’s iconic Era’s Tour and Formula 1 to Creamfields.

The events are electric, and of course, our team is there to work, so it’s not always fun and games, but what a job it is! Our team members swap the office radio for live background music from the likes of Shania Twain, Taylor Swift, Calvin Harris, and Ed Sheeran. They serve the world’s royalty at events such as The Royal Windsor Horse Show, celebrities at Royal Ascot, and the families of esteemed sports stars at the exclusive hospitality areas within stadiums and arenas. Some of our team members have even achieved their personal dreams through Arc:

“I started with ARC earlier on this year, have had so many amazing opportunities and acceptance for some amazing work, Green Day concert in Manchester (which was my dream to hear them live), Blondie Concerts in Halifax, Bryan Adams on 2 occasions in a matter of weeks, bike and car racing just to name a few shifts of many that I have worked.”

4. Varied Career Paths

The hospitality industry consists of four sectors, including food and beverage, accommodation, travel and tourism, and entertainment and recreation, meaning one thing: endless job possibilities.

Hospitality is a global industry and offers anyone who follows its path some incredible opportunities; one moment you could be working at a bar in Bristol and the next Bali! Of course, in order to get those, it’s worthwhile gaining experience in the industry as soon as you possibly can.
