Where It Began

It’s 2008, the world is feeling the effects of a financial recession, Liverpool is the European Capital of Culture and Coldplay are at number 1 with Viva La Vida.

A 20-year-old Michael Gavin sets up a hospitality recruitment company from a small room in Liverpool. With only one client – Liverpool Football Club – he recruits, trains, and allocates 50 people into retail and hospitality positions. After a few months at the helm, Mike is joined by his former university housemate Paul Marcinkowski and the business picks up pace. By the end of the year, they’ve secured 5 major clients and have over 500 Team Members on their books.

After settling and expanding in Liverpool, our second venture was to the capital. Our London office was set up in October 2013 and quickly became a big success. The London office now has one of our biggest operations teams providing Team Members to prestigious clients all around the city.

Our geographical strength lies within our six hubs, strategically located across major cities including Liverpool, Manchester, London, Birmingham, Leeds and Glasgow to deliver the utmost efficiency for our clients.

Our Journey to Becoming a Better Business

We had always wanted to be more than just a recruitment company but the hectic nature of the pre-Covid 19 events industry provided little thinking time. So, in 2020, while the world stood still, we mobilised, discovering our “why” and exploring where we wanted the business to go. We realised that we could have a genuinely positive and lasting effect on the recruitment industry and so formed our vision: “To shape the world of flexible work into a better place for all”

It was a new sustainability-focused era at Arc, one that would push us to understand the industry like never before, the good, the bad and the ugly. We invested in our vision, created a new Impact department, and aligned our goals with our values. Our Impact Pillars would direct our focus onto three key areas: taking climate actionreducing barriers to employment and eliminating social inequalities.

Our Mission & Values

Our mission is to solve staffing problems by supplying the most suitable, satisfied and well looked after people – every minute of every day, wherever they are needed.

This means helping our clients hit their targets and satisfy their end-users; training and upskilling Team Members so they are suitable and comfortable in a variety of roles; and building long-lasting partnerships with employees, team members and clients, ensuring everyone has a good experience.

We’re Honest

Trust and honesty combine to support business growth. We pride ourselves on being honest with each other, our Team Members and Clients. This leads to long-lasting, sustainable relationships. Having these honest conversations means we can improve the sector we work in.

We Care

It’s easy to say we care but caring for us means providing equal opportunities regardless of race, gender, or disability.

We respect the environment, work to reduce paper waste, preserve value, and encourage circularity in all business practices. With offices and work across the UK, we’re perfectly placed to invest in local people and build up your skills to help the industry and your career thrive.

We Deliver

Having delivery as a key principle forces us to hold Client and Team Member expectations and experience at the forefront of our minds. We want to deliver a great service for everyone our business impacts. We also monitor how sustainable we are and are always working to do better and embed sustainability into everything we do.
